Coco Loco Mix

I was digging around looking for early hip hop/rap tracks, found a bunch (and a new track by Everlast) and here’s the result.
The Chubb Rock track is a great example of early rap, “Tennessee” by Arrested Development is a classic, and Biz Markie’s “Just a Friend” proves that sometimes the worst voice ever is still a great way to go for a memorable chorus.

SuperSchwiizer: Swiss Hip Hop
Yep, it is everywhere… And here’s what it looks like when hip hop crashes into a Bollywood track, while sung in Swiss German – while managing to visually cover about every cliché there is about Switzerland (and every cliché about hip hop culture, but I think that one is a bit lost on them).
And yes, even after spending more than a bit of time over there, I still can only pick up every tenth word – so I have no idea what he’s really saying so I hope there’s no offense to those that do understand it…
He’s Gimma and it’s awesome.
Many thanks to Stefan for forwarding this so long ago…
The Black Pearl Mix

I found myself living in a small Swiss village (the most beautiful Uetikon Am See) this past year and I needed a car. And in my usual way, I went through all kinds of options, checking out countless cars online, pissed off a good friend of mine as I tried to take care of too many people with too many cars – and then went in a completely opposite direction and settled on the most impractical, hard to drive, noisy as all hell beast of a “car” imaginable: A Land Rover Defender.
I thought that every great (absurd, impractical, “how the hell do you park that thing?”) car (okay a truck, really) should have it’s own soundtrack, and so here is the old school hip hop mix I put together for The Gold Coast’s bad ass “Black Pearl”.
It’s not like hip hop is really my thing, but I was there in NYC back in the day and this old school stuff was, without a doubt, the best music to launch this beast of a car on unsuspecting a small Swiss village…
